Marvel (automobile)

The Marvel was an American automobile manufactured from 1906 to 1908 by the Marvel Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan.

The company, initially known as the Marvel-Ernest Motor Company, aimed to produce a reliable and affordable motorcar. Early models were marketed as high-wheelers, popular at the time for their purported ability to handle rough roads. These cars typically featured large-diameter wheels and a simple, durable construction.

The Marvel's design incorporated a horizontally-opposed two-cylinder engine, a common engine configuration for smaller automobiles of the period. This engine offered relatively smooth operation and ease of maintenance. Advertisements emphasized the Marvel's practicality and suitability for everyday use, particularly in rural areas where roads were less developed.

Production was relatively limited, and few examples of the Marvel automobile have survived. The Marvel Motor Car Company ceased production in 1908, likely due to increasing competition from larger, more established automobile manufacturers and the shift in market preference towards more modern designs.
