USS Arrowhead (AD-35)

USS Arrowhead (AD-35) was a Shenandoah-class destroyer tender in the United States Navy. She was laid down on 26 June 1944 at Tampa Shipbuilding Company, Tampa, Florida; launched on 15 December 1944; sponsored by Mrs. Robert M. Thompson; and commissioned on 23 August 1945, Captain J. E. Boetz, USN, in command.

Following shakedown off Guantanamo Bay, Arrowhead departed Norfolk, Virginia, on 12 October 1945 for the Pacific. Transiting the Panama Canal, she arrived at San Diego, California, on 23 October and sailed on to Pearl Harbor, where she arrived on 6 November. Arrowhead then proceeded to Yokosuka, Japan, arriving on 22 November to support the destroyers of the 5th Fleet.

Arrowhead served in various capacities in the Western Pacific, primarily providing maintenance and repair services to destroyers. Her ports of call included Sasebo, Hong Kong, and Subic Bay. She played a crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of the U.S. Navy's destroyer forces in the region during the post-World War II period.

In the following years, Arrowhead continued to serve as a destroyer tender, providing essential support to naval operations during the Korean War and the Cold War. She underwent periodic overhauls and modernization to keep pace with technological advancements.

Arrowhead was decommissioned in 1990 and struck from the Naval Vessel Register. Her ultimate fate remains a matter of public record and could involve scrapping or other disposition as determined by the U.S. Navy.
