Liu Kai (Song dynasty)

Liu Kai (Song dynasty) was a Chinese calligrapher who lived during the Song dynasty (960–1279). He is best known for his refined and elegant regular script (楷書, kaishu) calligraphy. While details of his life are scarce, his surviving works and rubbings have secured his place as a significant figure in the history of Chinese calligraphy. He is often admired for his clear, precise, and structured style, reflecting the aesthetic preferences of the Song era. His work served as a model for later generations of calligraphers, especially those studying regular script.
