Le Biot
Le Biot is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France.
Geography
Le Biot is situated in the Vallée d'Aulps, a valley in the Chablais Alps. It's located between the towns of Thonon-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) and Morzine, a popular ski resort. The Dranse de Morzine river flows through the valley.
History
The history of Le Biot is closely tied to the development of the Vallée d'Aulps. The area was historically agricultural and its development was also influenced by the nearby Aulps Abbey.
Economy
The economy of Le Biot is now largely focused on tourism, taking advantage of its proximity to both Lake Geneva and the ski areas of the Chablais region. Agriculture still plays a role, but to a lesser extent than in the past.
