Laurel Park (race track)
Laurel Park is a thoroughbred horse racing track located in Laurel, Maryland, United States. It hosts live racing primarily during the fall and winter months. The track is owned and operated by the Maryland Jockey Club, which is itself a subsidiary of The Stronach Group.
Laurel Park's history dates back to 1911 when it was originally named Laurel Race Course. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations and name changes, ultimately becoming Laurel Park. It has hosted numerous prestigious races, including the Grade 3 General George Stakes, the Grade 3 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash, and the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie Stakes.
The track features a one-mile dirt oval and a seven-furlong turf course. It also provides stabling facilities for hundreds of horses. Laurel Park is a major contributor to the Maryland horse racing industry and a popular destination for racing fans in the Mid-Atlantic region.
