Langeraar
Langeraar is a village in the municipality of Nieuwkoop, in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. It is situated on the Langeraarse Plassen (Langeraar Lakes), a popular area for water sports and recreation. The village is located approximately 10 kilometers northeast of Alphen aan den Rijn.
Historically, Langeraar was an independent municipality until it was merged into the municipality of Nieuwkoop in 1991. The name "Langeraar" likely derives from the long, narrow shape of the land area ("aar") bordering the lakes.
The village has a relatively small population and retains a rural character. The economy is largely centered around tourism related to the lakes, as well as agriculture. Langeraar features a number of restaurants, cafes, and accommodations catering to tourists.
