La Citadelle (film)
La Citadelle is a 1968 French-Swiss made-for-television film directed by Bernard Borderie. It is an adaptation of the novel The Citadel (1937) by A. J. Cronin. The film stars Pierre Vernier as Andrew Manson, the protagonist, a newly qualified doctor who confronts the harsh realities of medical practice in a Welsh mining town. The storyline follows Manson's idealism as it is tested by poverty, corruption, and professional ambition, leading him through different stages of his career and illustrating the ethical dilemmas he faces. The film is a single episode of the series Le Tribunal de l'impossible.
