106th Street station (Second Avenue Subway)

The 106th Street station is a local station on the IND Second Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. It is located under Second Avenue between 104th and 106th Streets in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. The station is served by the Q train at all times and the N train during limited hours.

The station has two side platforms and two tracks. It is fully accessible, featuring elevators and other accessibility features in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Artwork within the station includes mosaic panels depicting scenes of East Harlem, reflecting the neighborhood's culture and history.

Construction of the 106th Street station, along with the rest of the first phase of the Second Avenue Subway, began in 2007 and opened to the public on January 1, 2017. The station provides enhanced transit access for residents of East Harlem and contributes to reduced crowding on the Lexington Avenue Line. Future phases of the Second Avenue Subway are planned to extend the line further north and south.
