Kopeyka (supermarket)

Kopeyka was a Russian discount supermarket chain. Founded in 1998, it rapidly expanded throughout Russia and Ukraine. The chain was known for its low prices and no-frills shopping experience, targeting budget-conscious consumers.

Kopeyka offered a limited selection of goods, focusing on essential food items, household products, and some non-food items. The stores were typically characterized by simple layouts, cost-effective design, and minimal staffing. The emphasis was on efficiency and volume sales to maintain competitive pricing.

In 2011, X5 Retail Group, one of Russia's largest retailers, acquired the Kopeyka chain. Following the acquisition, most Kopeyka stores were rebranded as Pyaterochka, X5's flagship budget supermarket brand. The Kopeyka brand effectively ceased to exist as an independent entity after this transition.
