National Action Movement (Venezuela)

The National Action Movement (Movimiento de Acción Nacional - MAN) was a minor political party in Venezuela. It emerged in the latter half of the 20th century, existing primarily in the 1960s and 1970s. MAN generally adhered to a nationalist ideology, often associated with conservative elements and a critique of established political institutions. It distinguished itself through a rhetoric that emphasized national sovereignty, cultural identity, and a perceived need for strong leadership. The party’s electoral performance was limited, and it did not achieve significant political power or representation in the Venezuelan Congress. Information regarding its specific policies and activities is scarce and often found only in historical accounts of Venezuelan politics during that period. While its presence was noted, it remained a fringe element in the dominant political landscape of the time, largely overshadowed by the larger, more established parties such as Acción Democrática (AD) and COPEI. Due to its limited influence and eventual disappearance from the political scene, detailed information about the National Action Movement is difficult to obtain, and its historical impact is considered minimal.
