Koh Rong
Koh Rong is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, part of the Cambodian province of Preah Sihanouk. It is the second largest island in Cambodia and is known for its diverse terrain, encompassing sandy coves and coral reefs. The island's interior is largely covered in dense jungle, dotted with coconut palms and waterfalls.
Koh Rong has seen significant development in recent years, transforming from a relatively untouched paradise into a popular tourist destination. The main settlements are Koh Touch (often spelled Kaoh Touch), which is the busiest and most developed area, and smaller, more secluded villages such as Long Set Beach (also known as 4K Beach), Sok San Village, and Prek Svay.
The island offers a range of activities, including snorkeling, diving, kayaking, jungle trekking, and boat trips to nearby islands. Its beaches vary in character, from the lively party atmosphere of some parts of Koh Touch to the tranquil, almost deserted shores found elsewhere.
While Koh Rong's natural beauty remains a key attraction, concerns have been raised about the environmental impact of tourism and development. Efforts are underway to promote sustainable tourism practices and protect the island's delicate ecosystem.
