Bechyneia

Bechyneia is a genus of extinct squamate reptiles belonging to the mosasaur family. Fossils attributed to Bechyneia have been found in deposits dating to the Late Cretaceous period, specifically the Turonian stage, in the Czech Republic. The genus is characterized by specific features of its cranial anatomy, contributing to the understanding of mosasaur evolution and diversification within the European archipelago during the Late Cretaceous. Further research and analysis of existing and future fossil discoveries are necessary to fully elucidate the phylogenetic relationships and paleobiogeographic distribution of Bechyneia within the Mosasauridae.
