Ministry of Transportation (Indonesia)
The Ministry of Transportation (Indonesia) (Indonesian: Kementerian Perhubungan Republik Indonesia, often abbreviated as Kemenhub) is a government ministry of the Republic of Indonesia responsible for the development and management of transportation infrastructure and services. Its primary functions include formulating and implementing national transportation policies, regulations, and programs across all modes of transport, including land, sea, air, and rail.
The Ministry oversees the operation and maintenance of various transportation facilities, such as airports, seaports, railway networks, and bus terminals. It also plays a role in ensuring safety and security within the transportation sector through the implementation of standards, inspections, and enforcement activities.
Furthermore, the Ministry is involved in the planning and development of new transportation infrastructure projects, often collaborating with other government agencies, private sector partners, and international organizations. It also manages the licensing and certification of transportation personnel and equipment.
The Ministry is headed by the Minister of Transportation, who is appointed by the President of Indonesia and is a member of the Cabinet. The Minister is responsible for leading the Ministry and providing strategic direction for the transportation sector.
