1TV (Macedonian TV channel)
1TV was a privately owned television channel in North Macedonia. It began broadcasting in 2008 and ceased operations in 2019 after its owner, Orce Kamchev, was implicated in a major corruption scandal.
1TV was known for its news programming, current affairs shows, and entertainment content. It aimed to provide an alternative voice in the Macedonian media landscape, although its editorial independence was often questioned due to Kamchev's business and political connections.
The channel's demise followed the "Racket" scandal, which exposed widespread corruption and abuse of power within the highest levels of government and business in North Macedonia. Kamchev's involvement led to the freezing of his assets, including 1TV, ultimately resulting in its closure. The abrupt shutdown left numerous employees without jobs and impacted the media pluralism in the country. 1TV's frequency was later reassigned to another broadcaster.
