South Kerry (UK Parliament constituency)

South Kerry was a UK Parliament constituency in Ireland, returning one Member of Parliament (MP). It existed from 1885 to 1922.

Boundaries:

The constituency was located in the south of County Kerry. It comprised the baronies of Dunkerron North, Dunkerron South, Glanarought, Iveragh, and the part of the barony of Clanmaurice not included in the North Kerry constituency.

History:

Created under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, South Kerry replaced part of the previous Kerry constituency. It was abolished upon the dissolution of the UK Parliament in 1922, following the establishment of the Irish Free State.

Politics:

South Kerry was generally a stronghold for the Irish Parliamentary Party, who advocated for Home Rule.
