Al-Bakri (crater)
Al-Bakri is a lunar impact crater located on the near side of the Moon, in the eastern part of the Sinus Medii region. Its selenographic coordinates are 13.4° N, 21.7° E, and its diameter is 12.2 kilometers.
The crater is relatively small, bowl-shaped, and has a distinct, sharp rim. It is situated in a relatively featureless mare surface, making it a noticeable feature in the area. It is named after the 11th-century Spanish-Arab geographer and historian, Abu Ubayd al-Bakri.
Al-Bakri is considered a simple crater, lacking the terraced walls or central peak often found in larger lunar impact craters. Its pristine appearance suggests that it is a relatively young feature in lunar geological terms. Due to its small size, it is not a high priority target for lunar research.
