Ko Kra
Ko Kra (Thai: เกาะกระ) is a small, uninhabited island belonging to Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 34 kilometers east of the Nakhon Si Thammarat province coastline. Administratively, it falls under the jurisdiction of Pak Phanang District.
Ko Kra is part of the Mu Ko Kra National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะกระ), which encompasses a group of islands including Ko Kra Yai, Ko Kra Lek, and several smaller rocky islets. The island is primarily characterized by rocky terrain and fringing coral reefs. These reefs support a diverse marine ecosystem, making the area a popular, though often remote, diving and snorkeling destination.
The island's isolation and protected status within the national park contribute to the preservation of its natural environment. Access to Ko Kra is generally restricted, requiring permits and often necessitating travel via chartered boats due to the distance from the mainland. While uninhabited by humans, the islands serve as nesting sites for seabirds and provide habitat for various marine species.
