The band was founded by singer Shirley Manson (formerly of Garbage) and drummer Dave Grohl (of Foo Fighters and Nirvana), although these initial plans fell through. The actual lineup consisted of Aimee Echo (vocals), Jamie Stewart (guitar), Michael Narducci (bass), and Jason Graham (drums). After releasing their debut album, Finally, in 2003, they gained a following within the alternative rock scene. Their music received airplay on alternative rock radio stations and was featured in various television shows and films. The band's energetic sound and Echo's distinctive vocals were key elements of their appeal.
