Khasakent
Khasakent is a village located in the Lachin region of Azerbaijan. It falls under the administrative control of the Lachin District.
Historically, the area was populated by Armenians and known as Ghazanchi (Ղազանչի) or Ghazanchetsots (Ղազանչեցոց) during the Soviet era and prior. It was a part of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.
The village was captured by Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. In December 2020, following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, the territory encompassing Khasakent was returned to Azerbaijan as part of the ceasefire agreement. The Armenian population subsequently left the area. The current demographics and infrastructure status of the village are still being assessed and rebuilt. The change in toponym from Ghazanchi/Ghazanchetsots to Khasakent reflects the post-war administrative control by Azerbaijan.
