Le Mans (band)
Le Mans was a Spanish indie pop band formed in San Sebastián in the early 1990s. Characterized by their ethereal melodies, delicate vocals (typically sung in Spanish), and sophisticated instrumentation, they became a significant part of the Donosti Sound scene, a movement of indie bands emerging from the Basque Country.
The core of Le Mans consisted of Jone Gabarain (vocals, guitar) and Ibon Errazkin (guitar, keyboards, bass). Other members contributed at various times, including Teresa Iturrioz (vocals, guitar) and Gema Espejo (vocals).
Le Mans released a string of EPs and three full-length albums: Le Mans (1993), Entretanto (1996), and Aquí Vivía Yo (1998). Their music often explored themes of melancholy, introspection, and everyday life with a subtle, poetic touch.
The band dissolved in 1998. Following the breakup, members pursued various musical and artistic projects. Ibon Errazkin has continued to be active in music production and as a solo artist.
Le Mans is remembered for its distinctive sound, contributing significantly to the Spanish indie pop landscape of the 1990s, and for the enduring quality of their songs. Their work continues to be appreciated by fans of indie music and remains influential within the Spanish music scene.
