HMS Camilla (1776)
HMS Camilla was a 28-gun Enterprise-class sixth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1776.
Camilla saw active service during the American Revolutionary War. Notably, she participated in the Battle of Cape Henry in March 1781, under the command of Captain John Collins, as part of a British squadron attempting to prevent French reinforcements from reaching the American forces.
Later in her career, Camilla served in other theaters. Information on specific deployments after the American Revolutionary War can be limited and requires further research.
The fate of HMS Camilla and her eventual decommissioning or loss requires additional investigation to provide a complete account. Her service, however, demonstrates the role of smaller frigates in naval operations during the late 18th century.
