Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon (United States Coast Guard)
The Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon is a decoration of the United States Coast Guard awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Coast Guard, distinguish themselves by meritorious service or achievement.
The award is presented for performance of duty that is above that normally expected and sufficient to warrant more tangible recognition than a letter of commendation, but not warranting a higher level award such as the Coast Guard Commendation Medal. The service or achievement must be directly related to the accomplishment of the Coast Guard’s mission.
The ribbon device is a bronze Coast Guard shield, centered on the ribbon. Multiple awards of the Commandant's Letter of Commendation are indicated by award stars. The first award is indicated by a bronze star, with subsequent awards indicated by silver stars. Five bronze stars are replaced by one silver star.
The Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon is worn after the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and before the Coast Guard Unit Commendation.
