Kenshiro

Kenshiro is the protagonist of the popular Japanese manga and anime series Hokuto no Ken (北斗の拳), known in English as Fist of the North Star.

Kenshiro is a master of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken (北斗神拳, lit. "Big Dipper Divine Fist"), which allows him to strike an opponent's secret vital points (tsubo) to devastating effect, often leading to dramatic and gruesome deaths for his adversaries. Typically, these strikes cause enemies to explode from within after a brief period.

In the post-apocalyptic world of Hokuto no Ken, ravaged by nuclear war, Kenshiro dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and weak from the tyrannical gangs and warlords who prey on them. He travels the wasteland, dispensing justice and fighting to uphold his principles.

Kenshiro is characterized by his stoic demeanor, unwavering sense of justice, and immense physical strength and skill. He is often recognized by the seven scars on his chest, which resemble the Big Dipper constellation. His catchphrase, "Omae wa mou shindeiru" (お前はもう死んでいる, "You are already dead"), precedes the effects of his strikes, signifying the moment his opponent's life has been irrevocably ended.

Kenshiro's backstory involves a complex lineage and rivalry with other masters of Hokuto Shinken, notably his "brother" Shin, who initially defeats and scars him, and later, Raoh, the eldest of the Hokuto brothers and a formidable antagonist. The narrative arc of Hokuto no Ken revolves around Kenshiro's journey to master his art, overcome his personal challenges, and ultimately bring peace to the wasteland.

His image and catchphrases have become iconic in Japanese popular culture, making him one of the most recognizable anime and manga characters.
