Acura RDX
The Acura RDX is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by Honda under its Acura brand. It debuted in 2006 as a 2007 model, replacing the Acura TSX wagon in the Acura lineup. The RDX is positioned below the larger Acura MDX in Acura's SUV offerings.
The first generation RDX (2007-2012) was notable for its use of a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, a relative rarity in the luxury crossover segment at the time. It also featured Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system.
Subsequent generations adopted a more conventional naturally aspirated V6 engine in the second generation (2013-2018), followed by a return to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine (a 2.0-liter) in the third generation (2019-present). The third generation also saw a significant redesign, with a focus on improved interior space, technology, and overall refinement.
Throughout its production run, the Acura RDX has been considered a competitor to other compact luxury crossovers such as the Lexus NX, BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60. Key selling points often include value for money, reliability, and a sporty driving experience, particularly in models equipped with SH-AWD.
