Ollie (skateboarding)
The ollie is a fundamental skateboarding trick where the rider and board leap into the air without the use of the rider's hands. It is a foundational maneuver upon which many more advanced skateboarding tricks are built. The ollie is performed by popping the tail of the board against the ground, sliding the front foot up the board to level it out, and landing with both feet over the bolts (truck hardware). Proper technique and timing are crucial for a successful ollie. The height achieved in an ollie varies greatly depending on the skater's skill and the terrain. Mastery of the ollie allows for navigating obstacles, performing grinds, and executing more complex aerial maneuvers.
