Gregory Campbell (ice hockey)
Gregory Campbell (born January 16, 1984) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, and Columbus Blue Jackets, and also briefly for the Calgary Flames.
Campbell was known as a gritty, physical, and defensively responsible forward, specializing as a penalty killer and fourth-line player. He was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round (67th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Campbell played junior hockey with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before turning professional. He quickly earned a reputation for his hard work and willingness to block shots, characteristics that defined his NHL career.
During his time with the Boston Bruins, Campbell became a fan favorite. He is particularly remembered for an incident during the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals where he blocked a shot with his leg and finished his shift on one leg, despite suffering a broken fibula. This act exemplified his dedication and toughness.
After his NHL career, Campbell played briefly in Switzerland before retiring from professional hockey. Since his retirement, he has been involved in various business ventures.
