Jon Hare
Jon Hare is a British video game designer and entrepreneur best known for co-founding the video game development company Sensible Software. He is renowned for his contributions to the development of popular and critically acclaimed games, particularly in the sports and strategy genres.
Hare's career began in the 1980s, developing games for the Commodore 64. In 1986, he co-founded Sensible Software with Chris Yates. Together, they created a string of successful titles that became known for their innovative gameplay, accessibility, and often humorous presentation.
Sensible Software's most notable games include Sensible Soccer, a top-down football (soccer) game celebrated for its fast-paced action and intuitive controls; Cannon Fodder, a controversial but popular top-down shooter combining action and strategy elements; and Mega-Lo-Mania, a real-time strategy game with a humorous take on historical evolution.
Hare served as a key creative force within Sensible Software, contributing to game design, programming, and production. After the company was acquired by Codemasters in 1999, Hare eventually left to pursue other ventures.
