Depden

Depden is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. It is located approximately 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Bury St Edmunds. The population recorded in the 2011 census was 272.

The village has a church, St Mary the Virgin, a Grade II* listed building. Historically, Depden was part of the Thingoe Hundred.

The name "Depden" is believed to derive from the Old English words "dēop" meaning deep and "denu" meaning valley. Thus, Depden can be interpreted as "deep valley".
