Jirisan (Tongyeong)

Jirisan in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, is a mountain located on Mireukdo Island. It should not be confused with the much larger and more famous Jirisan National Park spanning three provinces in mainland South Korea.

This Jirisan is considerably smaller, reaching a height of approximately 461 meters (1,512 feet). Despite its relatively modest elevation, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding Dadohaehaesang National Park (Hallyeohaesang National Park), a maritime park dotted with numerous islands. Popular hiking trails lead to the summit, rewarding hikers with stunning coastal scenery.

Jirisan (Tongyeong) is a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking outdoor recreation and natural beauty. It is accessible from Tongyeong city by bus or taxi and offers a less strenuous hiking option compared to the mainland Jirisan. Features along the trail may include Buddhist temples, rock formations, and dense forests, depending on the specific route.
