Purnima (Hindi actress)
Purnima (born as Amina Sherin Malik; died April 14, 2013) was an Indian actress who primarily worked in Hindi cinema. She was also a film producer and director.
Purnima began her acting career in the late 1930s, gaining popularity in the 1940s and 1950s. She was known for her roles in films such as Aurath (1940), where she played the lead role; Roti (1942); Shehnai (1947); Jogan (1950), where she played the role of Meera Bai; and Baadal (1951). Her performances were often noted for their emotional depth and dramatic intensity.
Beyond acting, Purnima ventured into film production and direction. She produced and directed films under her own banner, showcasing her multifaceted talents in the film industry.
She was married to filmmaker Bhagwan Dada, a well-known comedian and actor in Hindi cinema.
Purnima passed away in Mumbai at the age of 78. Her contributions to Indian cinema are remembered through her extensive filmography and her work as both an actress and a filmmaker.
