George Wright (jurist)

George Wright (born circa 1847, died January 2, 1912) was an American jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court. He was notable for his long and distinguished career in law and public service within the state of Iowa.

Wright was born in Keosauqua, Iowa. He read law and was admitted to the Iowa bar. He began his career practicing law privately before transitioning to public service. He served in the Iowa state legislature.

In 1870, Wright was elected to the Iowa Supreme Court, serving as an Associate Justice for a period of six years. During his tenure on the court, he participated in the adjudication of numerous cases impacting Iowa law.

Following his service on the Iowa Supreme Court, Wright continued his legal career in private practice. He maintained a prominent position within the Iowa legal community, known for his expertise and contributions to the development of law in the state. He died in Des Moines, Iowa.
