Eye TV
EyeTV was a brand of digital video recorder (DVR) software and hardware produced by Elgato Systems, later acquired by Geniatech. The primary function of EyeTV was to allow users to record television programs directly onto their computers, typically Macs, for later viewing.
EyeTV encompassed a range of products, including USB and networked TV tuners that received over-the-air (OTA) or cable television signals. The EyeTV software provided a user interface for scheduling recordings, managing recorded content, and watching live TV. It typically included a program guide (EPG) for browsing available shows and setting recordings based on program titles or times.
The system supported various video formats and allowed users to export recordings for playback on other devices or for editing. Key features often included time-shifting capabilities, allowing users to pause and rewind live television.
EyeTV was discontinued in 2016 following Geniatech's acquisition of the brand from Elgato. Support and updates for the software and hardware have since ceased.
