Jimmy Thompson (footballer, born 1935)
Jimmy Thompson (born in Durham, England in 1935) was an English professional footballer. He primarily played as a right-half.
Thompson began his career with Newcastle United but did not make a first-team appearance for the Magpies. He subsequently signed for Carlisle United in 1955. He went on to make over 100 league appearances for Carlisle United between 1955 and 1959. Following his time at Carlisle, he transferred to Rochdale. He then made more than 100 appearances for Rochdale in the Football League. After leaving Rochdale, his career is less documented in available sources, but it is believed he continued playing at a non-league level. He is remembered as a solid and reliable player during his time in the Football League.
