Lou Pai
Lou Pai (born 1946) is a former executive of Enron Corporation. He is best known for his leadership of Enron Energy Services (EES), the retail energy division of Enron, and the large fortune he amassed during his tenure.
Pai joined Enron in 1986 and rose to become CEO of EES. EES, under Pai's direction, pursued aggressive growth strategies, aiming to become a dominant player in the retail energy market. However, EES's business model ultimately proved unsustainable, leading to substantial losses for Enron.
Pai left Enron in May 2001, several months before the company's collapse. He sold his Enron stock for hundreds of millions of dollars. Following Enron's bankruptcy, Pai faced scrutiny for his compensation and the performance of EES. While he was never charged with any crime related to Enron's collapse, his financial gains at a time of significant investor losses generated considerable controversy.
After leaving Enron, Pai invested in land and ranching in Colorado. He maintained a low public profile.
