James Hamilton (photographer)

James Hamilton (born 1941) is an American photographer known primarily for his portraiture of celebrities, musicians, and political figures, as well as his photojournalism work documenting social and cultural trends.

Hamilton began his career as a staff photographer for Harper's Bazaar in the 1960s and later worked for Crawdaddy, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times Magazine. His photographs have appeared in numerous other publications, and he has published several books of his work.

He is recognized for his ability to capture intimate and revealing moments, often using natural light and a direct, unposed approach. His subjects have included Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and many other notable personalities.
