Amaryllis (Shinedown album)
Amaryllis is the fourth studio album by American rock band Shinedown, released on March 27, 2012. The album was produced by Rob Cavallo, who had previously worked with the band on their 2008 album, The Sound of Madness.
The album's title, Amaryllis, is derived from the Amaryllis flower, which the band felt represented the album's themes of rebirth, growth, and resilience. Musically, Amaryllis continues Shinedown's hard rock sound, incorporating elements of alternative metal, post-grunge, and arena rock. It features a mix of heavy, riff-driven tracks and more melodic, anthemic songs.
Singles released from Amaryllis include "Bully," "Unity," "Enemies," "I'll Follow You," and "Adrenaline." The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, selling over 106,000 copies in its first week. It has since been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The album received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its strong songwriting, powerful vocals, and energetic performances. Some critics noted that the album's themes were somewhat generic, but overall, Amaryllis was considered a successful and well-crafted rock album for Shinedown.
