Ian D. Clark (civil servant)
Ian D. Clark is a former Canadian civil servant. He is best known for his long career in the public service, culminating in his role as Clerk of the Privy Council, the most senior non-political position in the Canadian federal government.
Clark served as Clerk of the Privy Council from 1999 to 2006, advising the Prime Minister of Canada (first Jean Chrétien, then Paul Martin) on matters of policy and administration. In this role, he also served as Secretary to the Cabinet.
Prior to his appointment as Clerk, Clark held various senior positions within the federal government, including Deputy Minister of Industry, Deputy Minister of Finance, and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations).
