John Killeen Handy (politician)

John Killeen Handy (born October 16, 1847, died February 19, 1918) was a U.S. Representative from Mississippi.

Born near Canton, Madison County, Mississippi, Handy attended private schools and graduated from the University of Mississippi at Oxford in 1867. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1870, commencing practice in Canton. He served as district attorney for the tenth judicial district of Mississippi from 1876 to 1880.

Handy was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1883 – March 3, 1887). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1886.

After leaving Congress, Handy resumed the practice of law in Canton, Mississippi. He served as judge of the fifth judicial district of Mississippi from 1903 to 1910. He again resumed the practice of law. He died in Canton, Mississippi, on February 19, 1918, and was interred in the Canton Cemetery.
