Hu Xingyu
Hu Xingyu (Chinese: 胡鑫宇; pinyin: Hú Xīnyǔ; born c. 2007, disappeared October 14, 2022, declared deceased January 28, 2023) was a 15-year-old Chinese high school student who disappeared from Zhiyuan High School in Yanshan County, Jiangxi Province, China on October 14, 2022. His disappearance garnered significant national attention in China, leading to a widespread search effort involving police, volunteers, and the public.
The circumstances surrounding Hu Xingyu's disappearance were initially unclear, fueling various theories and speculations online, including allegations of organ harvesting and foul play. Authorities conducted extensive searches of the school grounds and surrounding areas, utilizing search dogs, drones, and other resources.
On January 28, 2023, after over 100 days of searching, Hu Xingyu's body was found hanging from a tree in a wooded area near the school. Police investigations concluded that his death was a suicide. The police announcement and subsequent press conferences addressed and refuted some of the circulating conspiracy theories.
