David Walters (swimmer)

David Walters (born October 1, 1987) is an American former competitive swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. He represented the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he won a gold medal as a member of the 4×200-meter freestyle relay team.

Walters attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he swam for the Texas Longhorns swimming and diving team under coach Eddie Reese. During his collegiate career, he was a multiple-time All-American and NCAA champion.

Beyond the Olympics, Walters also competed at the FINA World Championships. He was part of the American team that won gold in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships in Rome, setting a world record in the process. He earned an individual bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle at the same championships.

Walters has also represented the United States in other international competitions, including the Pan Pacific Championships. His career was marked by strong relay performances and consistent contributions to the American swimming program.
