Heanor railway station (Great Northern Railway)
Heanor railway station (Great Northern Railway) served the town of Heanor in Derbyshire, England, on the Great Northern Railway's branch line to Ripley.
The station opened on 2 July 1856. It was a modest station, typical of Great Northern Railway branch line stations, and initially provided a crucial link for the area's coal mining and industrial activities. Services primarily connected Heanor to Ripley and Nottingham, with connections onwards to other parts of the Great Northern Railway network.
Passenger services ceased on 4 January 1960. Goods traffic continued for a further period but the line was eventually closed completely. The station buildings and track were subsequently dismantled.
Today, no trace of the station remains. The site is now occupied by commercial or residential developments. The route of the former railway line can be discerned in places and forms part of local footpaths and cycleways.
