Fat Slags (film)

Fat Slags is a 2004 British comedy film directed by Ed Bye, based on the comic strip of the same name created by Viz magazine. The film stars Fiona Allen and Sophie Thompson as Sandra and Tracey, respectively, two vulgar and promiscuous women from Newcastle upon Tyne who travel to London in search of money and celebrity.

The plot revolves around their outrageous and often offensive behavior as they encounter various characters and situations, fueled by their insatiable appetite for men and material possessions. Fat Slags employs crude humor and slapstick comedy, aiming for shock value and satire of celebrity culture and societal norms.

The film was critically panned upon release, receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews for its offensive content, poor acting, and perceived lack of humor. It was also a commercial failure. Despite the critical backlash, Fat Slags has gained a cult following amongst some viewers who appreciate its intentionally outrageous and subversive nature. The film's depiction of working-class women has been the subject of debate, with some arguing it is a misogynistic caricature and others seeing it as a satirical representation of certain aspects of British society.
