St. Elizabeth Academy (Missouri)

St. Elizabeth Academy, located in St. Louis, Missouri, was a private, Catholic, all-girls high school. Founded in 1831 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart, it was one of the oldest schools for girls west of the Mississippi River.

The academy offered a college-preparatory curriculum, emphasizing academic excellence and spiritual development within a Catholic tradition. It focused on providing a well-rounded education that included humanities, sciences, mathematics, and fine arts. Extracurricular activities encompassed a variety of clubs, sports, and service opportunities.

St. Elizabeth Academy was historically known for its strong sense of community and its commitment to educating young women to be leaders and contributors to society. The school closed its doors in 2013 due to declining enrollment. The campus was later repurposed. The alumnae association remains active.
