Walter Anderson (editor)
Walter Anderson (1944 – 2023) was an American editor and writer best known for his long tenure as editor of Parade magazine. He joined Parade in 1980 and served as its editor from 1980 to 2000. Under his leadership, Parade became one of the most widely read magazines in the United States, known for its Sunday newspaper insert format, celebrity interviews, human interest stories, and its annual “What People Earn” issue.
Prior to his role at Parade, Anderson worked at Time magazine, where he covered a variety of topics including politics and culture. He also served in the Peace Corps in Liberia.
Anderson was recognized for his editorial acumen and his ability to connect with a broad audience. He was also the author of several books, including "Courage Is Contagious," a collection of stories about individuals who demonstrated extraordinary bravery. After leaving Parade, he continued to write and consult in the media industry. His contributions to American journalism were significant, influencing the landscape of magazine publishing for decades.
