HMS Stag (1899)
HMS Stag was a torpedo boat destroyer of the British Royal Navy. She was a member of the River-class, also known as the E-class, launched in 1899. These destroyers were characterized by their turtleback forecastle, which was intended to improve seakeeping in rough weather.
Stag was built by John Brown & Company, of Clydebank, Scotland. Like others in her class, she was designed for a speed of 25.5 knots. Armament typically consisted of one 12-pounder (3-inch) gun, five 6-pounder (2.2-inch) guns, and two 18-inch torpedo tubes.
The Stag served primarily in home waters. During her service life, she underwent refits and modifications. She was eventually sold for scrap in 1919, following the end of World War I.
