Fred Ross (artist)
Fred Ross (born 1927, died 2011) was a Canadian painter and draftsman, known primarily for his realistic figurative works. He received his training at the Académie Julian in Paris, the Art Students League of New York, and the San Miguel Allende School of Art in Mexico. Ross was a strong advocate for traditional artistic techniques and classical training, emphasizing the importance of draftsmanship and the study of the human form. He often depicted scenes of everyday life, portraits, and historical subjects. His work can be found in various private and public collections. Ross was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He also co-founded, along with his wife Joan, the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, dedicated to teaching traditional representational art.
