James Lowe (rugby union)
James Lowe (born 8 July 1992) is a New Zealand-born rugby union player who represents Ireland internationally. He plays primarily as a winger.
Lowe began his professional rugby career in New Zealand, playing for the Tasman Mako in the Mitre 10 Cup and the Chiefs in Super Rugby. He quickly established himself as a potent attacking threat with a high work rate and a reputation for scoring tries.
In 2017, Lowe moved to Ireland to play for Leinster Rugby in the Pro14 (now United Rugby Championship). He became a key player for Leinster, contributing significantly to their success in the league and the European Rugby Champions Cup. His performances earned him recognition as one of the most exciting wingers in European rugby.
Under the residency rules of World Rugby, Lowe became eligible to represent Ireland after residing in the country for five years. He made his debut for Ireland in November 2020 against Wales in the Autumn Nations Cup. He has since become a regular member of the Irish national team, known for his strong running, aerial skills, and try-scoring ability. Lowe was part of the Ireland squad that won the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2023.
