HMS C38

HMS C38 was a C-class submarine of the Royal Navy. Built by Vickers, Barrow-in-Furness, she was laid down on 12 December 1919, launched on 14 July 1920, and commissioned on 20 April 1921.

As a C-class submarine, HMS C38 was primarily designed for coastal defense and patrol duties. They were improvements over earlier designs, offering better speed and endurance. C38 served during the interwar period, participating in fleet exercises and patrols. During this time, submarines played a crucial role in training anti-submarine warfare tactics for surface ships.

Details of her specific service history are somewhat limited, but she would have likely been based at various ports around the United Kingdom and potentially in the Mediterranean Sea.

The C-class submarines were gradually replaced by newer designs as submarine technology advanced. HMS C38 was sold on 16 April 1946 to be broken up for scrap.
