Don Costa

Don Costa (June 10, 1925 – January 19, 1983) was an American arranger, composer, conductor, and record producer. He was a prolific figure in popular music, known for his lush orchestral arrangements and production work, particularly during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.

Costa is perhaps most recognized for his collaborations with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, and Lloyd Price. He significantly contributed to Sinatra's later career, arranging and conducting several of his albums, including the hit "Theme from New York, New York." He also played a pivotal role in shaping Anka's career transition from teen idol to mature performer. His arrangement of "Diana" for Anka is one of his earlier successes. He helped arrange and produce hits for Lloyd Price, further cementing his reputation as a versatile arranger.

Costa also had a successful career as a recording artist in his own right, releasing instrumental albums that showcased his orchestral arrangements. He often incorporated elements of easy listening, jazz, and pop music into his compositions.
