Graham Mackay (businessman)

Graham Mackay (1949 – 2013) was a South African businessman best known for his role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SABMiller, one of the world's largest brewers. He joined South African Breweries (SAB) in 1978 and rose through the ranks, becoming CEO in 1999.

During his tenure, Mackay oversaw the company's transformation from a primarily South African operation to a global brewing giant through a series of strategic acquisitions, including Miller Brewing in the United States and numerous other breweries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. His leadership was instrumental in SAB acquiring Miller Brewing Company from Philip Morris Companies in 2002, forming SABMiller.

Mackay was widely respected in the business community for his strategic vision and his ability to successfully integrate acquired businesses. He served as CEO of SABMiller until his death in 2013, with a brief period of medical leave in 2012. He played a key role in shaping the global brewing industry and left a significant legacy within SABMiller. His death was attributed to complications following lung surgery. He was succeeded as CEO by Alan Clark.
